A 38-year-old man has been arrested by police in Durrës after being declared internationally wanted for drug trafficking.
He was sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Milan, Italy, to 5 years and 2 months in prison for this criminal offense. The operation codenamed “The Wanted”, conducted by the Special Operations Force, led to his capture and arrest.
Meanwhile, procedures for the 39-year-old's extradition to Italy continue.
"Another citizen internationally wanted for drug trafficking has been arrested.
Following successive operations to locate and capture citizens declared internationally wanted, based on information obtained operationally, the services of the Special Operational Force and the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the services of the Road Traffic Sector, of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, within the framework of the police operation codenamed "The Wanted", located, captured and arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy, the citizen:
Behar Gerguri, 39 years old, resident of Durrës.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Appeal of Milan, Italy, in 2023, sentenced him to 5 years and 2 months in prison for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics", provided for by the Italian Criminal Code.
"Procedures for the extradition of the 39-year-old to Italy are ongoing," the police announced.
