Tirana police have arrested a 20-year-old man who, in collaboration with a Colombian, trafficked foreign girls, mainly from Colombia, to exploit them for prostitution.
According to police, the young man has been identified as Kenado Prela.
Seven foreign nationals (6 from Colombia and 1 from Panama) are being prosecuted after being caught red-handed in a daily rental apartment, suspected of engaging in prostitution.
A sum of money suspected to have been obtained from prostitution, 7 cell phones and other illegal items were seized.
"The police operation codenamed "Crossline" is being finalized, to crack down on the criminal activity of trafficking foreign citizens, with the aim of exploiting them for prostitution.
A 20-year-old man is arrested, and efforts are underway to identify and capture his accomplice, a suspected Colombian citizen. Criminal proceedings are being initiated against 7 foreign nationals (6 from Colombia and 1 from Panama), after they were caught red-handed in a daily rental apartment, where they are suspected of practicing prostitution.
A sum of money suspected of being obtained from prostitution, 7 mobile phones and other illegal items were seized. As a result of a months-long investigation conducted with proactive methods, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Crossline", as a result of which the citizen KP, 20 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested.
Investigations suspect that citizen KP was collaborating with a Colombian citizen, still unidentified, to traffic foreign nationals, mainly from Colombia, into Albania to exploit them for prostitution.
Following the actions, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where criminal proceedings were initiated against 7 foreign nationals (6 from Colombia and 1 from Panama), aged 27-35, who were caught red-handed in a daily rented apartment on "Gjon Muzaka" Street, suspected of practicing prostitution.
"Work continues to capture the arrested citizen's accomplice and to document this criminal activity. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
