The Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi, published the letter in which Ilir Meta communicated to lawyer Kujtim Cakrani the decision to end their cooperation. In his justification, the former president states that the complexity of the judicial process and the pursuit of the case even in the European Court of Human Rights require legal protection focused solely on his file.
"Thanking you for your cooperation so far and hoping for your understanding, due not only to your numerous and increased commitments, while the burden of my case, not only in substance, but also for the ECHR, requires updated and permanent commitment, I have decided to have a lawyer who will deal only with my case and who will be at my disposal at all times," Meta writes.
In the letter, the leader of the Freedom Party asks Cakran to submit all the documentation of the file to the party's general secretary, Tedi Blushi, while his sister will take care of the financial obligations. Meta also informs him that he will also address the Special Court to change the legal representation. The letter ends with the phrase: " With special consideration."
Lawyer Kujtim Cakrani announced yesterday that the former president had decided to hire another legal defense attorney. He revealed that after the last court session, the relationship between them had cooled and that they had no longer communicated, adding that he himself had considered leaving Meta's defense.
"That session we parted very coldly and had no further communication. I don't want to talk more, I am more than crystal clear in my relationship with him. It was a silent parting. Meta today decided to hire another lawyer, I had thought about this too, they were in agreement with Mr. Meta. I don't know who the new lawyer will be. Whoever it is, he has found the foundation laid because you know that I have done an extraordinary job and for this I remain hostage. I raised the shattered image of the former president considering what has happened and this is what remains a little hostage to me", said Cakrani.
