Switzerland convincingly defeats Algeria and secures qualification

Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye scored a goal in each half to give Switzerland a 2-0 victory over Algeria and qualification for the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Thursday in Vancouver, Canada.

Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute, while Ndoye doubled the lead just a minute into the second half.

With this victory, Switzerland maintained its unbeaten streak in the tournament, after recording two wins and one draw in the group stage, closing Group B in first place.

In the round of 16, Switzerland will face the winner of the match between Colombia and Ghana on Tuesday, also in Vancouver, with the aim of securing a place in the quarterfinals for the fourth time in its history.
