The next court session between the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and special prosecutor Ols Dado will take place today at the Administrative Court.
The previous session was postponed to give the parties time to familiarize themselves with the request of the "National Association of Media and Justice", which has requested to be included in the process as a party to the trial.
The association requests that the Administrative Court declare invalid the decree by which Ols Dado was appointed prosecutor in 2008. According to its representatives, the case is of public interest and relates to the integrity of the justice system, one of the main objectives of the organization's activity.
On the other hand, Erion Veliaj is seeking the repeal of the presidential decree by which Ols Dado was appointed prosecutor in 2008, arguing that the appointment was made without completing the Magistrate's School.
The defendant in this process is also the Presidency of the Republic, the institution that at that time, under the leadership of President Bamir Topi, decreed the appointment of Ols Dado to the position of prosecutor.
