Tirana police have arrested the security guard at the OTP Bank branch where a robbery took place the day before. He is suspected of not intervening to prevent or neutralize the perpetrator during the robbery.
According to sources, the robber managed to take around 10-15 thousand pounds from a citizen who was at the bank to deposit the money, as well as a considerable amount from the financial institution's cash register.
Preliminary information indicates that the perpetrator followed an elderly woman to the bank, where she had gone to make a deposit. After the woman entered the bank premises, he approached her and threatened her with an object that allegedly resembled a weapon.
Under pressure from the threat, the robber took the amount of money she was carrying and then took money from the bank's cash register, immediately leaving the scene.
Investigative sources indicate that the perpetrator was carrying a gun and fled on a scooter, elements that have made his identification and capture difficult. In the meantime, he remains at large, while investigations to fully unravel the incident are ongoing.
