After more than 24 hours on the run, the Albanian man who beat his wife to death in Ancona yesterday has been found alive and seriously injured.
Italian authorities have discovered the whereabouts of Nazif Muslija, 50, an Albanian from North Macedonia, suspected of the brutal murder of his wife, Sadjide Muslija, 49, a crime that occurred the day before in the town of Pianello Vallesina, municipality of Monte Roberto (Ancona). After an intensive search spanning the entire region, he was found in a steep area near Matelica (province of Macerata), lying on the ground and in serious condition, but alive.
Emergency medical teams are working to stabilize him, while it is still unclear the nature of his injuries, whether they were self-inflicted or incurred during the escape. His vehicle, a white Smart, was also identified near the area where he was found, which had been abandoned.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the serious incident has advanced. In the apartment where the crime occurred, the carabinieri have seized a metal pipe, which is suspected to have been used as a murder weapon. This object will undergo further forensic analysis in the coming days to verify whether it is the tool that caused the fatal injuries. The body of the victim, who was found lifeless in the bedroom with her face battered by the blows, has been sent for an autopsy, but its date has not yet been determined.
The Ancona Prosecutor's Office has ordered the official detention of Nazif Muslija, as a suspect in premeditated murder, while an international search warrant was also issued, as there was fear that he might have crossed the border.
Eyewitnesses had seen him rushing away from the scene in his vehicle, immediately after the discovery of Sadjide Muslija's body. Throughout the morning, forensic specialists continued examinations at the house, in an attempt to accurately reconstruct the dynamics of the event and to collect other biological or material traces that could help in the investigation.
