His arrest was carried out in 2023 on two charges of extortion of 3 thousand euros and illegal possession of firearms...
Nevzat Spaho alias "Nevi", who is considered the "strongman" of Prrenjas and who has already been arrested for the murder of Mondi Mëhalla in Elbasan, turns out to have been released from Fier prison in February 2025.
Journalist Elton Qyno has reviewed his criminal files, which have shown that Nevi Spaho was released from prison in February 2025. And 9 months after his release from prison, he was involved in the contract killing of Mondi Mëhalla, an event that took place in the “Emin Matraxhiu” neighborhood in Elbasan. According to the documents, it turns out that Nevzat Spaho was in prison from 2018 to 2021 on the charge of “Attempted Murder”. Spaho is considered a person with a criminal record.
But while serving his sentence in the Fier prison, he was involved in another incident inside the prison. For this crime, he was fined 666 thousand old lekë.
According to the investigative file on July 25, 2021, it resulted that at around 17:05, in Building C, Sector no. 2, Room no. 6, convict Ilir Meronianaki had a conflict with convicts Nevzat Spaho and Florent Kodhelaj. In this conflict, convict Ilir Meronianaki suffered damage to his eye.
The minutes of July 26, 2021, reflect the examination and receipt of three reports related to this event. Based on the claims of the convicted Ilir Meronianaki, his examination by a forensic expert was requested.
From Ilir Meronianaki's explanations, it appears that on July 25, 2021, at around 5:00 PM, he was in his room. A regime policeman went there and told him that the convicts Nevzat Spaho and Florent Kodhelaj wanted to drink coffee in his room.
He accepted their request and allowed them to enter the room, where they stayed for about 10 minutes. As they were about to leave the room, they began to physically assault him, punching him in the presence of the police officer, and as a result, they caused him bodily harm.
Meanwhile, the last time Nevzat Spaho was in prison was for a sentence received on the charge of "Coercion by threat with the intent to take property."
This is because as soon as he got out of prison, he began imposing fines on various people, and a criminal report to the police was enough for Nevzat to start having problems with the justice system again in 2022.
His arrest was carried out in 2023 on two charges of extortion of 3 thousand euros and illegal possession of firearms. However, because during the investigation the weapon used by Nevzat Spaho was not found by the police, this charge was dismissed by the prosecutor, Hektor Mushi.
Meanwhile, the defendant Nevzat Spaho was convicted only on the charge of "Coercion by threat with the intention of taking property" after he demanded 3 thousand euros from citizen Shefit Dashi.
According to the investigative file, it results that Chief Dashi appeared and filed a report at the premises of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, who reported that:
“. ..on October 17, 2022 at around 7:30 PM, Nevzat Spaho, who is called “Nevi” and is from Prrenjas, called him on his phone number 069323XXX. “Nevi” called him from the number 068450XXXX. Shefiti and “Nevi” met at around 9:25 PM and Shefiti got into “Nevi’s” car, which was a black “Jeep”. When they were driving around, “Nevi” hit Shefiti and pointed a gun at his head. He then opened the window of the vehicle and fired once in the air. Even after this episode, “Nevi” asked Shefiti to give him 3 thousand Euros by October 18, 2022 or he would kill him. He continued to threaten him and demand the money through messages on WhatsApp...”
From the examination of the conversations between these two people, it emerged that the conflict between them was caused by a game they were playing online and that Nevi Spaho, through threatening words, demanded from Shefit Dashi to give him the money, which according to him, was his.
On November 23, 2022, the Elbasan court approved searches of the apartment with the aim of arresting Nevi Spaho, but the latter was not found in the apartment after he had left for North Macedonia and then went to Austria and finally to Italy, where he was located in the city of Verona.
Nevi Spaho was then arrested and tried, being sentenced to prison only for the charge of "Coercion by Threat to Give Up Property". But just 9 months after the end of this sentence, Prenjasi's "strongman" Nevzat Spaho was involved in a contract killing of Mondi Mëhalla, for which he has already been arrested./ Syri.net
