The suspected perpetrator attempted to justify himself before the court and avoid criminal liability, denying the accusations of violence against the journalist and claiming that there was only a push between them.

The testimony of Prel Gjoni, the owner of the "Xhedis" market, arrested after the violence against journalist Ervin Dushi, is revealed.

Prel Gjoni has denied the charges of violence before the Court of First Instance in Shkodra, attempting to justify himself and avoid criminal liability. He claimed that he did not hit the journalist, but only pushed him during the conflict.

Despite this claim, the Shkodra Prosecution requested the security measure "prison arrest", a request that was accepted by the court, leaving Gjoni in custody.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident began after a video published on TikTok by journalist Ervin Dushi, who warned that he would denounce cases of expired food being sold in a supermarket chain.

Dushi stated that on the evening of that day he was contacted by Prel Gjoni and was then raped by him and two other people, receiving injuries to his face and head.

After the incident, the police arrested the owner of the “Xhedis” market for the criminal offense of “assault in the course of duty.” On the other hand, Gjoni claimed that the journalist had blackmailed him into imposing a fine on him, an accusation that has not been proven so far and is denied by the journalist.

The prosecution continues its investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of this event.
