New details have emerged from the serious incident that occurred in the village of Lozhan in Maliqi, where a police operation to capture a wanted person ended with one officer killed and another seriously injured.
According to preliminary information, 44-year-old Violand Braçellari, wanted by authorities for various criminal offenses, including narcotics, threats and injury, is suspected of having fired a firearm at officers of the "Eagle" special force during the intervention to arrest him.
As a result of the exchange of fire, police officer Enea Mekolli lost his life, while his colleague Edison Adri was seriously injured.
Sources for "Pamfleti" indicate that Edison Adri has been transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he is receiving specialized treatment. According to the same sources, he is in serious condition, after receiving a bullet in the neck area.
The suspected perpetrator, Violand Braçellari, who was injured in the crash, is also in the Trauma Hospital. He reportedly received a bullet wound to the abdomen and is under the supervision of authorities.
The event has shocked public opinion and the ranks of the State Police, while investigative groups continue their work to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
