Former director of Kombinat bank arrested in London, to be extradited to Albania

A former bank director, who in 2018 and 2019 robbed a client's money from a bank branch in Kombinat, has been arrested in England.

Journalist Muhamed Veliu, referring to documents from the extradition court in London, reports that Florant Nako, 40, has been handcuffed for extradition purposes at the request of Interpol in Tirana.

He is wanted by Albanian justice after, on October 15, 2018, at the bank branch where he worked in Kombinat, he stole 4,000 euros from Nikolla Nika's account.

The second charge relates to another robbery from the same bank account, on July 8, 2019, also at the bank's branch in Kombinat, in the amount of 1,300,000 lek.

While the third charge dates back to July 26, 2019, when Florant Nako stole another 550,000 lek belonging to the same client, Nikolla Nika.

Nako is expected to appear before the court in London again on November 11, 2025.

In 2020, Tirana Police announced that:

"The operation was finalized after a four-month investigation, following a denunciation made by the bank, while Nako had resigned from his position. Florant Nako will now face justice on the charge of 'Theft committed by abuse of office'."

In its response, the bank stated: "From the first moment of the incident being ascertained, all appropriate measures have been taken according to internal procedures and the legal framework, cooperating closely with the competent authorities to clarify the matter and maximize the protection of the client's interests."/ Tch
