The Tirana Court of Appeal has decided to reopen the judicial investigation against minor Mario Përlleshaj, accused of the murder of his peer, 14-year-old Martin Cani, an event that occurred two years ago near the 9-year-old "Fan Noli" school in Tirana.
According to "Report TV", in the session held today behind closed doors, the Appeals Court, composed of judges Fatri Islami, Enida Petri and Valdete Hoxha, decided to conduct psychological reports for the suspected perpetrator, Mario Përlleshaj, as well as for the minor who was injured, Luis Meçaj.
The next session is scheduled for June 10. The psychologist, who will be charged with drafting the psychological reports, is also expected to appear at this session.
On December 9, 2025, the Tirana Court sentenced Mario Përlleshaj to 16 years in prison. He was found guilty of the criminal offenses of “murder in other qualifying circumstances” against Martin Cani and “murder in other qualifying circumstances, attempted” against another minor, who was injured.
