The summer of 2025 has been described as the most difficult in Albania due to extensive damage from fires. Compensation for fire damage includes the period from June 15 to September 15.
The municipalities of Delvina and Gramsh were the most affected, which according to the authorities, were intentional in 90% of cases. In Gramsh alone, as previously reported, 68 homes were burned down.
There were also hundreds of dead livestock and thousands of hectares of olive and fruit trees burned.
In total, in the municipalities affected by the arson, nearly 200 houses were damaged and over 3,600 heads of livestock were burned.
Due to repeated cases, arson has been included in the Criminal Code, where perpetrators risk imprisonment from 5 to 15 years. With the new legal changes, negligent arson will also be included in the Criminal Code.
