From toys to clothes and shoes, not even sparing the national flag, you can freely buy fake products in Tirana's shops and markets. Mostly imported from China, you'll find them displayed everywhere, waiting for buyers who are tempted by the cheap prices.

While acknowledging the phenomenon, the Ministry of Finance also indicates the measures that are expected to be taken to limit the circulation of these products, in order to guarantee competition: " The goal is to increase cooperation in the fight against informality, smuggling, corruption and the import of counterfeit goods by 2027. Measures for 2024-2027 include cooperation with law enforcement agencies to increase seizures of counterfeit goods, exchange of information with counterpart customs and cooperation with importing companies ."

According to estimates by the World Trade Organization, counterfeit goods account for about 25 percent of trade in the country, writes A2. The new legal measures expected to be implemented next year aim to facilitate the procedure that a business must follow to register its name and bring innovations regarding international brands, given that we are now part of an open global market. The new legal basis, among other things, is also a condition for Albania in the negotiations for membership in the European Union./ A2CNN
