On February 20, 2026, the parliamentary majority did not approve the draft law on laboratory analysis of food contaminants, while in addition to products produced domestically and in markets, imported products are not even controlled...
On Wednesday, the Chief Inspector General, Dashnor Sula, held a meeting with the leaders and inspectors of the National Food Authority, whom he asked to detect and punish food crime in production and markets.
He demanded zero tolerance after receiving complaints and during inspections, towards all businesses that violate food safety; a legal obligation, which the Director of the National Food Authority, Blerina Gjylameti, guaranteed would be implemented.
This special attention is a hopeful departure from Dashnor Sula; while Blerina Gjylameti, after her appointment, carried out inspections and punishments for food crime, unlike the 11 leaders before her.
If the Chief Inspector General, Dashnor Sula, and the Director of the National Food Authority have decided to crack down on food crime, they should start with importers and markets, which are not affected because they are connected to the power structure.
An untouchable base of food crime is the "Big Market" network owned by socialist MP Vullnet Sinaj; dominant with markets in Tirana, Durrës, Fier, Vlora and every city.
Many concrete complaints continue to be made about "Big Market", for moldy, poor quality, dangerous, expired food products with corrected dates, with false production and origin labels and no data.
Given the fact that when Dashnor Sula was a member of parliament, he constantly denounced food crime; we are asking him a question:
- Will the markets and warehouses of "Big Market" really be inspected to stop and crack down on the food crime organized by the owner and SP MP, Vullnet Sinaj, and implemented by his subordinates?
In the warehouses and markets of "Big Market" there are special employees who falsify the expiration dates of products and leave them on the shelves for consumers to buy.
As for expired products, whose dates cannot be corrected several times, mainly children's products, meat by-products, chicken, milk, dairy products, preserves and sweets; the owner of "Big Market", MP Vullnet Sinaj, does not destroy them. But he sells them at a low price to companies that receive food tenders for kindergartens, nurseries, hospitals, police, army and prisons, while the owners of the companies bargain with the directors and use them.
On December 21, 2023, "Pamfleti" published the article titled: "The Director of AKU orders not to inspect "Big Market", "Devolli" and the businesses of the powerful; because according to information, Prime Minister Edi Rama had given the order."

On February 20, 2026, the parliamentary majority did not approve the draft law on laboratory analysis of food contaminants, while in addition to products produced domestically and in markets, imported products are not even controlled./ Pamphlet
