United States President Donald Trump has announced that American and Iranian representatives will hold a meeting on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, signaling the continuation of dialogue between the two countries despite recent tensions.
"Iran has requested a meeting. It will be held tomorrow in Doha!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, presenting the meeting as a request from Tehran.
The US president's statement comes at a time when Iran has been giving mixed signals. Iranian chief negotiator Kazem Gharibabadi earlier told the media that no meeting of the technical working group was scheduled for this week.
However, a senior US official told CNN that technical talks on implementing the memorandum of understanding between the two countries are proceeding as planned, despite the recent exchanges of fire in the region.
The meeting in Doha is expected to be an important test for the progress of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, as both sides are trying to keep diplomatic channels open amid ongoing tensions.
