How is Sali Berisha using symbolic violence to demand a bargain from Rama?
The Molotov cocktails thrown at the end of Sali Berisha's rally, in an atmosphere after he had warned of an aggressive reaction, are nothing more than coded signals.
Signals that tell Edi Rama what they really want from the majority. The clearest metaphor of what happened was Sali Berisha's response to a television reporter's question about whether he would attack Edi Rama's house.
Berisha replied that "we said it in Surrel", and then told the irritated people that "if you want to go, you can do it, I'll go home".
With this, Berisha told Edi Rama that even if he comes to Surrel, he will not touch him personally. This, of course, has nothing to do with the house as an object, but is a political metaphor. Which means: I can attack anyone in the government, but not you.
So, Sali Berisha is asking Edi Rama for a higher bargain, a deal for himself. An agreement that includes not only his fate in the SPAK investigations, but also the future of his family. Not in vain, Argita Berisha was the "star" of the DP protest today.
This, in fact, is another coded message for Edi Rama: that the majority, if not with the doctor, then make an agreement with Argita, who according to Berisha has even greater power than he himself.
Because she knows and has negotiated throughout these years with prosecutors and judges of SPAK and GJKKO, with whom she has a consolidated and conditional relationship.
So, Berisha came out to Edi Rama today to tell him: do you want to be saved? Play the game, but not necessarily with me, with Argita.
And here Berisha, even though he exaggerates, is not without logic. At least in his political logic, he aims to show his rival that Argita is the one who can provide exactly what the majority wants.
Otherwise, Argita would not have appeared on stage. But Sali Berisha has his clear demands: first, the charges against him and his family be dropped.
Therefore, Sali Berisha's Molotov cocktails today were a message to Edi Rama, to which, in all likelihood, he will respond very soon.
But how will he respond? Of course, by fulfilling the majority's demands for SPAK, but also Sali Berisha's demands for SPAK.
Essentially, Berisha has told Edi Rama that he is ready for an agreement and not for war. Details? After the New Year./ Pamphlet
