Gjergj Luca, one of Edi Rama's most ardent and active supporters in the virtual and media space, was suddenly furious today with the government of his friend,
whom he considers a national hero who is leading the country into Europe.
Luca himself, but also his group of media followers, have today launched a coordinated attack on the government to remove Roland Kristo from the post of Deputy Minister of Agriculture. Luca was one of the most enthusiastic at the time when the mayor of Cërrik, Andis Sala, was appointed Minister of Agriculture. Because he has concentrated his business in and around the Elbasan area, where he has created a strong connection to the territory, he has even become an electoral factor where he lobbies for the SP, something he himself says.
Roland Kristo seems to have been a close associate of Luca and his fishing lobby in the Ministry of Agriculture, and this is admitted by the ardent supporter of Edi Rama himself, who says that Kristo was one of the best specialists in Europe.
The entrepreneur stated that the government's decision to dismiss the deputy minister, a biologist with 22 years of experience, is not only shameless for the state in relation to Roland Kristo, but also a great loss of expertise for the entire fishing sector in Albania.
Meanwhile, some media supporters of Luca go further by attacking Taulant Balla, for having placed a person close to him at the head of the sector.
However, it seems clear that everything comes from above, namely from the man Luca loves: Edi Rama. It is the prime minister, i.e. the government, who dismisses and appoints deputy ministers or general directors.
But why would Edi Rama dismiss a man of his friend Gjergj Luca at the Ministry of Agriculture, when moreover he is quite qualified? To replace him with a young man who does not have the professional attributes and experience of Kristo?
The answer that comes naturally is that this may have happened precisely because he is considered a supporter of Luca, and not because he is who he is. A development that is clearly visible in the irritation of the businessman, who until now has had "wheat" with the prime minister and the majority.
Even with Taulant Balla, against whom he has turned his closest media people. So another question arises in this situation: is Rama abandoning or abandoning his childhood friend, Luca? And if so, why is this happening?
This will be better understood in the coming days, but what seems to be happening is that there are some strong moves from the US towards those who have so far been called entrepreneurs close to the prime minister.
A few days ago, one of these most powerful entrepreneurs was sanctioned by the US government and the Treasury Department blocked all bank transfers to America.
A move that appears to have stemmed from a detailed investigation in Albania and beyond. Two months ago, the DEA, which has opened an office in the US embassy in Tirana, asked for the public's help in informing on drug traffickers and money laundering. A priority that the Trump administration is investing heavily in both the US and abroad.
The DEA has in reality increased its investigative activity in Albania, along with its resources, also as a result of the increase in the number of Albanian traffickers operating in Latin America, Canada, but also in the US. In addition to trafficking, an important part of the DEA's investigation is also addressing the investment of money in Albania and abroad.
The sanctions against Luftar Hysa of Sinaloa coincided with the dismissal of Luca's man from the Ministry of Agriculture.
A signal that seeks to show that Edi Rama is reflecting or distancing himself from the businessman who openly supports him.
Why is this happening, is he sensing the moisture that could be coming from the US and is seeking to take action in advance?
