In the local elections held yesterday in North Macedonia, mayors were elected in 44 municipalities in the first round, while in 33 there will be a second round.
In three municipalities, the first round will be repeated due to insufficient turnout. The second round of elections will be held on November 2.
309 candidates competed in the race for 81 mayors, while over 10,490 candidates from a total of 576 lists competed for seats on municipal councils.
Referring to data from the first round, VMRO-DPMNE and the Coalition led the race in 53 municipalities, the VALEN Coalition in 9, SDSM and the Coalition in 8, the National Alliance for Integration in 5, and the ZNAM Movement, the Democratic Party of Turks, the Roma Union, the Mendi Qyra Voters' Group and the Azem Sadiqi Voters' Group in one municipality each.
The electoral process showed a catastrophic decline for Ali Ahmeti's DUI, part of the AKI coalition, leading from the first round in only 5 municipalities.
According to data from the State Election Commission (SEC), mayors in the first round were elected in Berovo, Manastir, Bosilovo, Butel, Vasilevo, Vevcan, Veles, Gazi Baba, Gevgelija, Gjorce Petrov, Gradsko, Delchevo, Demir Hisar, Zelenikovo, Ilinden, Jegunovce, Kevadar, Karabinci, Novo Selo, Ohrid, Petrovec, Pehchevo, Prilep, Radoviš, Resen, Sveti Nikolë, Sopište, Strumica, Shtip, Haracinë, Zhelin, Saraj, Tearce, Chair, Bogdanci, Kriva Palanka, Krivogaštani, Gostivar, Likovë, Plasnica,
The municipalities where the second round of voting will take place are Aerodrom, Brvenica, Valandovo, Vinica, Debarca, Demir Kapi, Dojran, Zrnovci, Karposh, Kicevo, Konce, Kocani, Makedonska Kamenica, Makedonski Brod, Mogila, Negotino, Probishtip, Rankovce, Ceshinovo-Obleshevo, Bogovinje, Dibër, Dolneni, Tetovo, Kruševo, Lozovo, Rosoman, Qendër, Cucer Sandevo, Struga, Shuto Orizar, Kumanovo, Studeničani, City of Skopje
Meanwhile, the repeat of the first round of elections due to insufficient registration will be held in Mavrovo and Rostusha, Vrapchisht and Qendër Zhupa.
In Staro Nagoricani, it is still uncertain whether there will be a second round, as the leading candidate from the counts so far has won 50.00 percent.
VMRO-DPMNE declares convincing victory
The ruling party, VMRO-DPMNE, declared a convincing victory after the first round of local elections in North Macedonia.
The party will have mayors in 30 out of a total of 80 municipalities, and expects to win about 20 more in the second round, including the city of Skopje, where its candidate, Orce Gjorgjievski, has a large lead.
"We promised victory, we have victory," declared Prime Minister and leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski.
Ai tha se është i kënaqur, pasi numri i përgjithshëm i votave të fituara është më i madh se në zgjedhjet parlamentare dhe ato lokale të mëparshme.
Mickoski gjithashtu konfirmoi se nuk ka ndërmend të shkojë në zgjedhje të parakohshme parlamentare, pavarësisht insistimit të opozitës nga BDI, dhe theksoi se “politikat e etnocentrizmit janë mposhtur.”
Humbja e LSDM
LSDM, parti në opozitë, pësoi humbjen e rradhës pas atyre parlamentare dhe presidenciale, të vitit të kaluar. Megjithatë, LSDM vlerësoi se rezultati nuk është i keq, pasi këtë herë ka fituar më shumë vota në disa komuna dhe theksoi se ka pasur “shkelje të shumta” gjatë procesit të votimit. LSDM do të ketë kryetarë komunash në Kriva Pallankë, Bogdanc dhe Krivogashtan, ndërsa pret të kalojë në rundin e dytë në rreth njëzet komuna të tjera.
“Kjo është dëshmi për konsolidimin brenda partisë që ka filluar dhe do ta vazhdojmë,” deklaroi lideri i LSDM-së, Venko Filipçe, i cili tha se nuk ka ndërmend të japë dorëheqje pas këtyre rezultateve zgjedhore.
VLEN fitoi në Çair dhe Tetovë, BDI në Gostivar
Koalicioni i partive shqiptare në qeveri VLEN udhëheq rezultatet në 8 komuna. Në Saraj, Tearcë dhe Çair duket se ka fituar që në raundin e parë. AKI e udhëhequr nga BDI udhëheq rezultatet vetëm në 5 komuna duke pësuar një rezultat të dobët. AKI kryeson në Vrapçishtë, Gostivar, Lipkovë, Pllasnicë dhe Çashkë.
Në Tetovë kandidati i VLEN dhe kryetari aktual Bilall Kasami prin me rreth 4 mijë vota kundrejt kandidatit të AKI-së, Bajram Rexhepi.
Ndërkaq që në raundin e parë, Izet Mexhiti i VLEN e ka fituar Bujar Osmanin në Komunën e Çairit me mbi 10% të numrit total të votave, një nga komunat më të rëndësishme.
Në Gostivar, Valbon Limani i AKI-së ka fituar bindshëm edhe atë me dallim prej 10 mijë votash kundrejt Sabedin Dautit të VLEN-it.
Në Komunën e Vrapçishtit edhe pse kandidati i AKI-së Isen Shabani fitoi me mbi 80%, i njëjti nuk do të mund të bëhet kryetar meqë nuk u arrit censusi dhe aty do duhet të përsëriten zgjedhjet.
Në rrethin e parë, VLEN ka fituar edhe Komunën e Tearcës me kandidat Daut Memishi, Komunën e Bogovinës me Feti Abazin dhe Komunën e Zhelinës me Blerim Sejdiun.
Shqiptarët për herë të parë do të fitojnë një komunë që gjithmonë ka qenë në duart e maqedonasve, pra komunën e Çashkës. Kandidati i AKI-së Suat Shaqiri ka korr fitore prej mbi 50% të votave që në rrethin parë.
Sipas informacioneve, edhe në Saraj prin kandidatit i VLEN-it Muhamet Elmazi kundrejt Blerand Rexhepit të AKI-së por ende nuk ka informacione zyrtare nëse shkon në raundin e parë apo jo.
Në Komunën e Strugës prin kandidati i VLEN-it Mendi Qyra me mbi 2 mijë vota kundrejt kandidatit të AKI-së, Arsim Dalipi.
Në Komunën e Likovës, Erkan Arifi ka fituar me 2 mijë vota diferencë që na rrethin e parë të zgjedhjeve.
Në Komunën e Dibrës, kandidati i pavarur Ramadan Imeri ka kaluar me vota Ilirjan Fetahun e AKI-së dhe në rrethin e dytë do të përballet me Fisnik Melën e VLEN-it.

In the second round of the Bervenica Municipality, VLEN candidate Haqim Ramadani and VMRO-DPMNE candidate Jovica Ilievski will run.
The AKI says that they lead by over 20,000 votes over the AKI against the VLEN at the national level, while the VLEN has the advantage in terms of the number of municipalities.
Members and supporters of VLEN celebrated, as they said, the "convincing victory in Çair and Tetovo" near the Skanderbeg monument in the Old Bazaar.
The National Alliance for Integration (AKI) coalition, led by DUI, won the mayoral elections in Gostivar, Lipkovo, Caska and Plasnica in the first round, announced DUI deputy leader Arber Ademi.
He said that at the national level, "AKI is the absolute winner with a lead of over 20,000 votes, and with the votes still being processed, this difference could be even greater."
