Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met in Brussels with the European Union's special representative for the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, Peter Sorensen.
Vučić stated that Serbia remains committed to the EU-mediated dialogue, describing it as the only framework that can guarantee peace and stability for all who live in Kosovo.
He stressed that the conversation was focused on the full implementation of the agreements reached, de-escalation of the situation on the ground and guaranteeing the security of the Serbian community in Kosovo. Vučić singled out the formation of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities as a key element for a sustainable solution.
The Serbian President added that Serbia will remain a reliable and constructive partner, ready for responsible compromise, while respecting international obligations and the principles of international law.
“In a frank conversation, I reaffirmed our commitment to dialogue under the EU umbrella, as the only framework that can ensure peace, stability and predictability for all those living in Kosovo and Metohija. We drew our attention to concrete steps, the full and consistent implementation of the agreements already reached, the reduction of tensions on the ground and the protection of the rights and security of the Serbian people. I particularly emphasized the importance of the formation of an Association of Serbian Municipalities, in accordance with the agreements, as a key element of a lasting solution.
"Serbia remains a reliable and constructive partner, ready for a responsible compromise, with clear respect for the obligations undertaken and the principles of international law. I am grateful to the EU representatives for their commitment and we continue contacts with the aim of preserving peace and ensuring a normal life for all our citizens," Vučić wrote in a post on his social network.
