Vučić sticks to old 'love', ignores European summit and deepens
Russian Ambassador to Belgrade, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has chosen not to attend the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, an event that brought together leaders from 48 European countries under the slogan "Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe."

His absence from this meeting comes at a time when, according to political assessments, Belgrade is gradually distancing itself from some European Union activities, although Serbian authorities have not officially declared a change of course towards Brussels.

At the same time, Vučić has continued regular contacts with Russian representatives. Today, he met in Belgrade with Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, where they discussed sustainable energy supplies, especially natural gas from Russia.

During the meeting, the Serbian president emphasized the importance of a "responsible energy policy," underlining that cooperation with Moscow remains important for the country's energy security.

Vučić also handed the ambassador a letter with the request to forward it to Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the occasion of Victory Day on May 9. He described this date as "one of the most important in the history of humanity," emphasizing that it symbolizes heroism and resistance.

In his statements, the Serbian president has also reaffirmed the position that Serbia will not allow the "revision of history" and has emphasized the role of the Red Army in the liberation of Serbia and Europe during World War II, continuing a well-known pro-Russian narrative in Belgrade's official discourse.
