Temperatures near 40°C, France faces a new heat wave

France is bracing for extremely hot days, with temperatures expected to approach 40 degrees Celsius in some regions of the country. Meteorological authorities have placed 26 prefectures, from the Paris region to the eastern part of the country, on orange alert.

According to the Météo-France weather service, the heat wave will not be temporary. Forecasts indicate that temperatures will remain very high over the coming days, with the peak expected to be reached on Sunday or Monday.

The situation is affecting the daily lives of citizens and the functioning of some services. In the education sector, high school students are taking their matriculation exams in overheated environments, while the Ministry of Education has warned of the possibility of postponing oral exams in some areas of the country.

Problems have also emerged in rail transport. National operator SNCF has announced the cancellation of 71 rail lines from Thursday to Monday, due to the risk of defects in air conditioning systems.

Public health experts warn that heat waves are becoming more frequent and occurring earlier in the year. They point out that extreme temperatures can have a serious impact on the body, regardless of age, especially during periods of intense activity such as exams, festivals or sporting events.

This is the second heat wave to hit France in a few weeks, following record temperatures recorded in May. According to climatologists, the phenomenon is directly linked to climate change, which is bringing increasingly frequent and intense episodes of extreme heat.

Meanwhile, in addition to France, Spain and the United Kingdom are also facing warnings of very high temperatures in the coming days.
