The Swiss Federal Criminal Court based in Bellinzona today sentenced two people to 30 and 53 months in prison for supporting the terrorist organization "Islamic State".
The Swiss Federal Court had requested higher sentences. Of the 30-month sentence, one of the defendants, an Albanian from Kosovo, must serve 15 months. The court also ordered his deportation from Switzerland for five years.
He has also been found guilty of multiple fraud, money laundering, document forgery and unfairly benefiting from family benefits, Swiss media report.
The other defendant, originally from North Macedonia, has also been convicted of professional fraud, money laundering, multiple forgery of documents, distribution of violent images, unfairly obtaining social security benefits and other criminal offenses.
