A laboratory specializing in the processing of precious metals in Lyon has today become the scene of an armed robbery, which looked more like an action movie scene.
According to the newspaper Le Progrès, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the city's 7th district, and thanks to the quick response of the police, all five suspected perpetrators were arrested, while the stolen objects were recovered.
The incident took place at around 1:40 p.m. at the Pourquery laboratory on the boulevard du Parc d'Artillerie. Eyewitnesses told Le Progrès that the five robbers smashed the windows of the laboratory before entering, armed with long weapons and wearing police uniforms. They loaded the valuables into a small white van and attempted to flee.

A video posted on social media shows the moment of the powerful explosion, while a white van with police lights is seen in front of the building. The footage shows three armed men, one wearing a hat and orange vest, and the other wearing a mask and a metal ladder, trying to break through the laboratory's perimeter.
After an intensive pursuit by the special police unit BRI (Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention), all five robbers were caught, the prefecture of Lyon announced. The investigation is now in the hands of the judicial police.
Of the 28 employees who were in the facility during the robbery, five of them suffered minor injuries and were treated by the Lyon metropolitan fire services.
Such armed robberies are not uncommon in the Lyon region. The Pourquery laboratory itself was the subject of an attempted robbery on May 15, 2024, while in April of the same year, a jewelry van was attacked in Rillieux-la-Pape.
