Pakistan appeals for peace in the Middle East: End hostilities and pave the way

Pakistan has expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the Middle East, following the second night of US attacks and Iranian retaliation that have increased insecurity in the region.

In an official statement, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Tahir Andrabi, called on the parties involved in the conflict to respect existing agreements and avoid further escalation.

"All parties must adhere to the understanding reached for the ceasefire and end hostilities to expand the space for dialogue and diplomacy ," Andrabi declared.

According to him, Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic engagement to support efforts to reduce tensions and maintain stability in the region.

In this context, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held meetings with Iranian leaders in Tehran this week, in an effort to consolidate the temporary ceasefire that has been in effect since April.

Meanwhile, Islamabad has also emphasized its role in diplomatic initiatives related to the Israel-Lebanon conflict. According to Pakistani authorities, the renewal of the ceasefire between the two countries has also been supported by Pakistan's diplomatic efforts.

Andrabi also announced that this week, the Chief of the Lebanese Army, General Rodolphe Haykal, paid a visit to Pakistan as part of consultations on regional security.

"We have undertaken a constructive diplomatic engagement in support of reducing tensions, a ceasefire, and the broader pursuit of stability in the region ," the Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman stressed.

The statements come at a time when concerns about the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East have increased significantly, while regional and international actors are seeking diplomatic solutions to avoid a wider clash.
