Israel has launched another wave of airstrikes on the southern outskirts of Beirut, just hours after reporting attacks by Hezbollah on its territory to the north.
The latest Israeli attack on the southern outskirts of Beirut risks complicating diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement that would end the war, at a time when negotiations between the parties continue amid growing tensions.
One of Iran's top negotiators, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, who also serves as the speaker of the Iranian parliament, said the US either lacks the will or the ability to fulfill its commitments. He reacted to the Israeli attack on Beirut, criticizing both Israel and Washington for allowing it.
Ghalibaf has been active on social media throughout the conflict. He posted a message on the X platform arguing that the US and Israel are pursuing a strategy known as “good cop, bad cop,” which he called outdated. According to him, such attacks call into question the US’s commitment to diplomatic efforts.

He wrote that: "The Zionist attack on Dahiyeh has shown once again that America either does not have the will to fulfill its commitments, or does not have the ability to do so.
By giving the green light to this regime, you cannot secure concessions. The game of bad cop and good cop is outdated. If you do not have the will and ability to fulfill your commitments, there can be no talk of continuing this process."
Reports in recent days have suggested that the US has tried to leave Lebanon out of a deal to end the war with Iran. However, Iranian leaders have insisted that Lebanon must be included in any deal, aimed at stopping Israeli attacks on Hezbollah, the Tehran-backed group in the country.
The deputy commander of Iran's Joint Chiefs of Staff also reacted to the Israeli attacks. According to Iranian state media, he declared that Israel's "crimes" would not go unanswered.
Meanwhile, according to a journalist for the Axios portal, Israel had notified the US military in the region shortly before launching the attack on the suburbs of Beirut./ Adapted by "Pamphlet" from "Sky News".
