China's People's Liberation Army has successfully completed testing of a new naval anti-drone system, opening a new chapter in modern military defense technology.
According to Chinese state media, the new system is now considered ready for mass production and operational use, with the aim of strengthening the defense of the Chinese naval fleet against modern threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
State television CCTV reported that the final test took place in the Bohai Sea, where the system successfully neutralized several drones simultaneously during simulations of difficult combat conditions.
According to reports, the system was tested in an environment with strong electromagnetic interference and with targets flying at very low altitudes, scenarios that are considered among the most challenging for the protection of modern warships.
After completing the testing phase, the program is now moving into the operational readiness and large-scale production phase.
Drones are changing modern warfare
In recent years, the People's Liberation Army has intensified investment in research and development of counter-drone systems, while modern conflicts have shown the increasing role of unmanned aerial vehicles in military operations.
The war in Ukraine and developments in the Middle East have forced military powers to review traditional war doctrines, as drones are now considered one of the main threats to ships, military bases, and strategic infrastructure.
Drone attacks have shown that relatively inexpensive assets can inflict significant damage on much more costly targets, changing the balance on the battlefield.
Global race for anti-drone systems
In this context, the United States and other countries are also developing advanced anti-drone systems, including technologies that use electromagnetic energy or directed energy weapons to neutralize swarms of drones within seconds.
The new Chinese development is seen as part of a broader global race for technological dominance in the field of anti-drone defense.
Security experts estimate that the rapid proliferation of military drones has radically transformed the way modern warfare is conducted, especially in naval operations, where military fleets face increasingly sophisticated and difficult-to-neutralize threats.
