Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized after his health deteriorated, with his representative saying he is experiencing serious breathing problems.
Weinstein's publicist announced that he is receiving specialized medical treatment and is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks.
"Harvey Weinstein is being treated in hospital for serious breathing problems and will remain under medical care for several weeks," his publicist said.
According to reports, doctors suspect that the 73-year-old is suffering from heart failure associated with pneumonia, and his condition has worsened in recent days. Before being transferred to the hospital, he was in the prison medical ward at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
In addition to his health problems, Weinstein continues to face new legal challenges. He is due to be sentenced in September on a previous sexual assault case, and his name remains at the center of a series of lawsuits in New York and California over the years. Some of the previous rulings have been overturned or remanded for retrial by appeals courts.
