The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that two American soldiers were killed on Friday in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
According to the CENTCOM statement, another American soldier is missing, and operations to find him are ongoing.
" On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan died in the line of duty while U.S. Central Command and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. In addition, one service member is currently missing ," the statement said.
CENTCOM also announced that four US service members were evacuated to hospitals in Jordan for treatment. They have since been released from the hospital, while other personnel who suffered minor injuries have returned to duty.
US authorities have not released the identities of the two soldiers killed, explaining that this will only happen after their families have been officially notified.
