The US today published its strongest document on Europe since the Cold War. The White House's new National Security Strategy warns that the continent is facing "civilizational obliteration" and that Europe risks no longer being a reliable ally of Washington. The text changes the course of transatlantic politics and raises immediate alarm in European capitals.

The new strategy says that Europe is heading for a deep decline and that the US must intervene to correct the course. The document presents this as a strategic task for Washington. President Donald Trump signs the preamble and calls the strategy a guarantee for maintaining American superiority.

The report raises serious questions about Europe's political orientation. The text cites restrictions on freedom of expression, the weakening of the opposition, and demographic change driven by migration. The strategy warns that some NATO countries could have a non-European majority within two decades. According to the report, this transformation could change the entire stance of the alliance.

The European Commission has declined to comment. A European diplomat quoted by Reuters described the language of the document as more severe than JD Vance's speech in Munich. Initial reactions show concern about the course of relations with the US at a time when many countries are increasing their defense budgets and are dependent on American aid to counter Russia.

The strategy directly addresses the war in Ukraine. The document says the US is aiming for a quick resolution and criticizes the “unrealistic” expectations of some European governments. The text accuses some countries of suppressing domestic dissent and not allowing debate on citizens’ demands for peace.

The conclusion of the document is a direct blow. According to the strategy, most Europeans want peace, but governments do not include this in their policies. The text says that the distortion of democratic processes makes the continent more unstable and less reliable as a partner for the US. /Pamphlet
