Farmers from Eastern Thessaloniki and Halkidiki in Greece wanted to block the entrance to Macedonia Airport for an indefinite period today, arriving with their tractors in front of the Agricultural School, shortly after 12:00.
However, there were police forces there, who lined up the iron nets and stopped them from continuing towards the airport.
For several minutes, tension rose and the police, deploying their shields and using chemicals, tear gas, prevented the farmers from continuing, while minor injuries were also reported.
Some of the farmers fought and others fell to the ground, some with injuries. Many others suffered damage from the tear gas and had side effects.
The farmers insisted, demanding that the road be opened for an ambulance to pass and making it clear that they did not want tensions, but the police were adamant.
Meanwhile, farmers from Karditsa remain at blockades today, on the E65 and Trikala highways, at the Longos toll points, while organizations and associations have issued statements expressing their support for the agricultural protests.
For days now, they have been holding massive protests with blockades of national and secondary roads, ports and airports, clashing with the police, as they demand the fulfillment of conditions, mainly in the field of subsidies.
