The US military carried out another attack on a suspected drug ship in the Eastern Pacific, killing four people on board.
According to a social media post from the US Southern Command, intelligence confirmed that the ship was transporting illegal narcotics and was transiting along a known drug trafficking route in the Eastern Pacific.
"Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic attack on a vessel in international waters operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization. Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was transporting illicit narcotics and was transiting along a known drug trafficking route in the Eastern Pacific. Four male narco-terrorists aboard the vessel were killed," the post said.
The attack comes at a time when the Pentagon is facing bipartisan criticism over a September attack on a suspected drug ship, in which the military carried out follow-up strikes, also killing the surviving crew members.
At least 87 people have been killed so far in attacks on 23 suspected drug ships as part of a campaign, dubbed Operation Southern Spear, that the Trump administration has said aims to curb narcotics trafficking.
