Details have emerged from the serious incident that shocked Germany this evening, in the Höchsten neighborhood of the city of Dortmund, where a person suspected of being a Serbian citizen barricaded himself in an apartment and allegedly took two minor children hostage.

According to German media reports, the incident began in a bar, where the suspect threatened customers and used pepper spray, causing panic among those present. After the incident, he fled the scene in a vehicle.

During the police's attempt to stop him, the Serbian citizen allegedly opened fire from a moving vehicle, injuring a police officer. Thanks to his bulletproof vest, the police officer was only wounded and is in serious condition.

After a clash with law enforcement, the suspected perpetrator escaped and entered an apartment building in Dortmund. According to preliminary information, he is believed to have been holding two young children hostage inside the apartment.

Immediately after the alarm, the area was surrounded by numerous police forces, while authorities imposed strict security measures to protect the neighborhood's residents. Special units of the German police, equipped with armored vehicles and ballistic shields, were also deployed to the scene.

Also, a negotiating team from the Special Intervention Command (SEK) arrived in the area, which initiated talks with the suspect with the aim of peacefully resolving the situation and guaranteeing the safety of the children.

So far, authorities have not provided detailed information on the condition of the hostages or the possible motives for the incident. Investigations are ongoing, while police are working to fully clarify the circumstances of this serious incident that has attracted the attention of public opinion in Germany.
