US President Donald Trump has denied media reports that talks between the United States and Iran have broken down, stressing that negotiations are still ongoing.
In a post on social media, Trump described as "fake news" reports claiming that dialogue between Washington and Tehran had stopped a few days ago.
"False reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the US have broken off talks in recent days are untrue and inaccurate. Talks between us continue without interruption, including those that took place four, three, two and one days ago, as well as today," he wrote.
However, Trump acknowledged that the outcome of the negotiations remains uncertain.
"Nobody knows where these talks will go, but as I said to Iran: The time has come, one way or another, to make a deal. You have been dragging this out for 47 years, and this cannot continue," the US president added.
Trump's statement comes amid ongoing speculation about the progress of diplomatic contacts between the US and Iran, at a time of high tensions in the Middle East.
