Bulgaria 'broke' EU rules? Will it allow Putin's flight to

Bulgaria, an EU member state, signaled that it will allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to fly through its airspace to Budapest, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump.

"If efforts are made to achieve peace, and if the condition for this is that there is a meeting, then it is logical to enable this meeting to take place as it should," Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said, according to a report by state radio in Sofia on the sidelines of the EU Council of Ministers meeting in Luxembourg.

A possible flight route from Moscow to Budapest passes over the Black Sea, over Bulgaria and Serbia. Bulgaria's airspace as an EU member state after the start of Russia's offensive war in Ukraine is closed to Russian aircraft. Other possible routes are north through Belarus and Poland or the Baltic Sea, Germany and the Czech Republic.
