A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Asiago, when a car carrying 5 young people went out of control, hitting the sculpture in the center of the roundabout on Via Verdi.
Italian media write that the accident occurred around 03:30 on Sunday, while as a result of the accident, 3 of the young people lost their lives and the other two were transported to the hospital, one of whom is in critical condition.
The victims are aged 20, while the injured are 21.
Initial reports indicate that the Peugeot 207 vehicle carrying the five young people skidded near the roundabout leading to Millepini Park, at the end of a slope.
The group, who had come to Altopiano to celebrate a birthday, were coming from Via Lavarone when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the vehicle lost control and, at high speed, hit the sculpture in the center of the roundabout.
The emergency teams found a horrific scene: three young men, two from Lusiana and one from Creazzo, were left lifeless, trapped in the car. A fourth young man, in critical condition, was extricated and rushed to the Bassano del Grappa hospital with a red code: his life is not in danger. The fifth, almost inexplicably, got out of the vehicle almost unharmed.
Paramedics, firefighters and the Suemi Carabinieri responded to the scene, securing the area and temporarily closing the road.
