The Lebanese Embassy in Washington has issued a statement claiming to have received confirmation of Hezbollah's agreement with a US proposal, which reportedly calls for a mutual cessation of attacks.
Under the proposed agreement, Israeli attacks on Beirut's southern suburbs would cease in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from carrying out attacks against Israel, with the ceasefire framework to be expanded to include all Lebanese territories, the embassy claims.
The embassy also said that Donald Trump told Lebanon's ambassador to the US, Nada Maawad, that he had received Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approval for the proposed deal.
Ambassador Maawad conveyed the results of the discussions to the Lebanese president, who in turn informed Hezbollah of them.
The embassy claimed that planned negotiation meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday will discuss this progress and build on it.
This comes after Trump said on Truth Social that he had a "very productive conversation" with Benjamin Netanyahu and a "very good conversation" with Hezbollah through representatives.
