Tirana Prefect Shkelqim Hajdari has declared that the fire that engulfed the building in Tirana has been brought under control. Hajdari said that another elderly person, who was in the building nearby, has also been evacuated.
He also explained that the incident is ongoing, however all forces, the fire department, the FNSH, firefighters are on standby.
"A very difficult operation. We have no victims. We have injured people with burns and injuries of a non-serious nature. Several residents who are unable to recover have been evacuated. An elderly person was evacuated 10 minutes ago. To calm the entire public opinion, the fire has been brought under control. But the operation will continue until the end, when the entire fire is neutralized," he said.
He further emphasized that he has ordered the Municipality of Tirana and civil emergencies to come to the aid of the affected residents.
"I am the prefect of the Tirana district and I come before you not to do politics. The state is here ," he said.
