Journalist Sokol Bregu, speaking about the execution of businessman Mondi Mëhalla, a crime that occurred on Sunday evening in Elbasan, said that the perpetrator was quite accurate when he shot. He added that when such clashes start in Elbasan, they last for a long time.
On the show "The Unexposed", Bregu said that since 2022 Elbasan had fallen "into silence", after the imprisonment and the revelation of many murders, after the revelation of the SKY ECC conversations. Bregu said that
"From 2017 to 2021, Elbasan has been the epicenter of crime. Today, most of them have been cleared because of SKY ECC. Most of them are on trial, because of communications on SKY and Encro. In 2022, we fell into silence and there was no signal from Elbasan. I cannot analyze whether SPAK, the release of SKY wiretaps, their departure to Dubai, etc., influenced it, but the fact is that since 2022 we no longer have a report or a history of crime in Elbasan.
It comes in December 2025. Now, what I analyze, is it an isolated murder? I hope it is a murder that does not have any underlying clash in drug trafficking and organized crime. It could be for other reasons. Many mistakes were made by the perpetrator. With a pistol it is the most difficult murder.
The pistol in shooting is the most difficult thing, since you have to be close and make sure. The author has been very accurate and it seems that he has carried out such shootings on other occasions. Those who have secured the materials, the vehicle, the departure, the way… This is at least one of the murders that can be solved. Let's not forget the fact that in the last five murders, it has been found who had the cars, the license plates, the assistants, but they keep their mouths shut, do prison for securing the conditions to commit murder, no more than three years and get out.
This is what happened in the murder committed by a foreign citizen in Vlora and so on. I don't want to call it a code of silence, as I don't believe there is a code of loyalty in organized crime in Albania.
