Journalist Anduena Llabani spoke on Monday evening about the incident that occurred yesterday evening in Elbasan, where businessman Edmond Mëhalla was killed.
On Euronews Albania, Llabani said that the recent events in our country are events that follow each other's script.
"The 43-year-old had a criminal record, investigated in Italy, not only for international trafficking, but also for money laundering, investigated in Albania, imprisoned by court decision in 2023 and declared innocent.
The rest is related to all the activities he has carried out over the years. The business he had was related to a taxi company and to some extent legitimized his business.
But the income he had previously secured to carry out his activities as a businessman was a reflection of a different reality, which led the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office in 2020 to initiate criminal proceedings for money laundering against him.
It is believed that, thanks to the intervention and payments made during the investigation, the process against him was closed at the request of the prosecution and the court declared the process against him closed.
Since then, he has continued between Italy and Albania, where he is believed to have been involved in a drug trafficking operation. Information released by the police is that this individual was involved four days ago in a fight with people who are suspected of being the perpetrators of the incident.
"The victim has many unresolved, very problematic scores over the years, and it is difficult to come up with a single solution," the journalist said.
