Huduti stated that he prefers a death with dignified values to a life of humiliation.
A few hours after the Albanian government declared him "persona non grata" for a period of 15 years, Iqballe Huduti has reacted. Huduti says he has nothing left to lose and that he has long since left the fear of "oppressors" behind.
"I have nothing to lose, because I have long since lost the things that the oppressors think I have suffered for. All I have lost is the fear of the oppressors, nothing else ," she wrote.
Huduti further described herself as a victim of injustice and said that she has long chosen to speak out. She used religious and historical references, citing Naim Frashëri's poem "Qerbelaja" and comparing her mission to that of the martyrs of Qerbela.
At the end of the message, Huduti stated that he prefers "a death with dignified values rather than a life of humiliation" and asked believers to keep him in prayer on the day of Ashura.
Iqballe Huduti's reaction
A response not to Minister Llamallari but to a concerned brother who sent me this news on WhatsApp.
Peace to you, Brother.
Yes, I know, respected brother, I read this article. I have nothing to lose, because I have long since lost those things that the oppressors think I have suffered for.
All I have lost is the fear of oppressors, nothing else, because I have long ago forgiven my soul, my life, and my heart to Someone who has forgiven me.
I have "lost" every good thing from this "beautiful" world, since the day I raised my voice against injustice in the name of human freedom and humanity. I was divorced from this world since the day I read the poem "Qerbelaja" by Naim Frashëri.
My life would have no value in this land of Albanianness if I did not fulfill my mission, which resembles the mission of the martyrs of Karbala.
Enough with the humiliations inflicted on me by the oppressors of my country, whether by the rulers or the religious.
Better for me is a death with dignified values than a life of humiliation.
I pray for you, brother, and you pray for me on this day of Ashura. I need the prayers of everyone who will listen for the injustices that are done to me in this life.
Today, the Albanian government has declared Kosovo citizen Ikballe Huduti (Berisha) a "persona non grata" for a period of 15 years, following Prime Minister Edi Rama's accusations of her links to the Iranian regime. The decision was taken by order of the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, who argues that, based on information from responsible institutions, her activity constitutes a threat to national security, public order and safety.
Earlier, Rama published a photo of Huduti next to former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, accusing him of calling for the Albanian government to be banned and expressing support for figures in the Iranian regime during the protests. Huduti is the first protester to be banned, and the prime minister warned that other people he believes have ties to Iran are also under surveillance.
At the same time, protests against the government continue, with organizers announcing new rallies in Tirana, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, as well as the removal of opposition leader Sali Berisha.
