The State Police has announced a new fraud scheme that is circulating through SMS messages, where citizens are deceived in the name of the state platform e-Albania, with the claim of paying vehicle fines.
According to authorities, the messages are sent from unknown numbers and contain fake links that mimic the official e-Albania website. Through these links, the aim is to acquire citizens' personal and banking data.
The police explain that these notifications are false and have no connection to e-Albania or other state institutions. The scheme appears similar to a previous case of fraud in the name of the Albanian Post, for which a report was filed with the Cyber Crime Investigation structures.
Authorities are urging citizens to be cautious and not to click on links sent via SMS from unknown sources, and not to provide personal or banking information on unconfirmed sites. It is also advised not to act under pressure from messages that create a sense of urgency.
The police recommend using only the official e-Albania website and immediately deleting suspicious messages. Any such case should be reported to the relevant authorities.
