June starts 'scorching', Lajda Porja: Temperatures will reach up to 36

The month of June is expected to bring high temperatures and typical summer weather in Albania, with the continued influence of African air masses that have begun to be felt since the end of May.

Weather forecaster Lajda Porja stated that the first week of June will be characterized by temperatures that will fluctuate between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, while after June 5, another gradual increase is expected.

"In the first week of June, temperatures will be around 33–34 degrees. After the 5th, a gradual increase to 35–36 degrees is expected. These hot African masses will be present throughout the summer, with short interruptions," the weather forecaster explained to "Ora News".

According to her, June will be hotter than usual, however, there will be short-term atmospheric fluctuations and local precipitation.

Summer thunderstorms are expected to appear mainly during the afternoon hours, as a result of the rapid development of convective clouds created by high temperatures.

"The showers will be short, usually a few minutes to an hour, mainly in the mountainous and eastern areas. There may also be isolated rainfall on the coast, but they will not affect the general weather and the summer season," Porja said.

The areas most affected by the transient rainfall are expected to be Tirana, Kukës, Puka, Bajram Curri, Peshkopia, Bulqiza, Korça, Pogradec, Erseka, Tepelena and Gjirokastra, while the coast will remain mostly stable.

According to forecasts, until around June 10, the weather will be clear and hot, while on June 11 and 12 there may be a short break with temporary precipitation, only to return to high temperatures and stable weather.
