Today marks four years since the passing of former President of Albania, Bujar Nishani, one of the most well-known figures in Albanian politics in recent decades.
His career in public life began early and was accompanied by engagement in important state institutions, until he assumed the highest position of state, that of President of the Republic, a position he held from 2012 to 2017.
During his presidential term, Nishani was identified with the protection of democratic institutions, the rule of law and human rights, while also supporting Albania's European integration process.
He was praised as a figure who sought to promote national unity and cohesion, in a period characterized by strong political clashes in the country.
Beyond his political commitment, Bujar Nishani is remembered by friends and associates as a man devoted to his family, with a simple nature and human communication.
The former President passed away on May 28, 2022, at the age of 56, after health complications, leaving behind an important legacy in the political and institutional life of the country.
