A criminal drug trafficking organization, led by Igli Kamberi, is suspected by Italian authorities of being responsible for the mafia-style kidnapping and execution of 26-year-old Francesco Divisti in Italy.
The young man, who worked as a hairdresser, disappeared on April 25, 2025 in Barletta, while his body was found four days later in a quarry area between Minervino and Canosa.
According to investigations by the Bari Prosecutor's Office and anti-mafia structures, Divisti was allegedly killed after a conflict related to a drug debt of several hundred euros. Investigators believe that he was taken by force by several people and then executed with a gun. After the crime, his body was burned in order to hide the traces and convey a frightening message to the criminal world.
"From today we know that our son was killed by dangerous people." This is what Maria Marzocca, the 26-year-old's mother, said, the media wrote.
"For us, this is the state's response we have been waiting for for a year," she said, expressing shock after investigations revealed links to the Albanian mafia and international drug trafficking.
"I have only one question: what did my son have to do with these circumstances?" said the young man's mother, emphasizing that Francesco was unconvicted, worked as a hairdresser in his father's business, and was a father himself.
Igli Kamberi, Nicola Di Benedetto and Antonio Lanotte, who are accused of being the direct perpetrators of the murder, have been arrested for this incident. Meanwhile, two other people have been placed under security measures for favoritism and concealment of information.
According to the investigation, the criminal group led by Kamberi had long been operating in drug trafficking in the Puglia region, while the suspected criminal proceeds were transferred to Albania to be laundered. As part of the operation, Italian authorities have seized hundreds of thousands of euros.
At the same time as the arrests in Italy, security measures have also been implemented in Albania, in cooperation between SPAK and Italian anti-mafia authorities, who are investigating the international connections of the criminal organization.
