Former Police Chief: Bami knows a lot about the connections between criminal groups, MPs and politics
Security expert and former head of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, stated on the podcast "Të Pashoq" that Durim Bami could become one of the most important collaborators of justice in Albania, due to the knowledge he claims to have about the connections between politics and the criminal world.
Prençi said that Bami is a key character in many important criminal episodes of recent years and that his testimony could produce strong political shocks.
" Durim Bami is a very strange character. He has been accused by opponents of setting up ambushes for assassinations, of organizing groups of paid assassins and of collaborating with criminal groups in Durrës and Fushë-Krujë to eliminate characters from the criminal world. He knows a lot. He has talked and had meetings with political figures. Durim Bami's cooperation would be a great treasure for Albanian justice and especially for SPAK ," declared Prençi.
According to him, Bami's importance is not only related to the criminal world, but to the contacts and connections he allegedly had with political exponents.
" Durim Bami may know a lot about the connections between politics and crime. He was once accused of being used to eliminate a deputy. He has connections to political figures and criminal groups close to politics. That is why I say he is a treasure for justice ," said the former head of the Police.
Prençi said that Albania is seriously endangered when criminal groups cooperate with politics and state institutions.
" Criminal groups have always existed, but they become very dangerous when they collaborate with MPs, ministers or segments of the police. Then the citizen no longer knows where to seek help, because the police themselves may be part of the crime and the MP who is supposed to help you may be part of organizing the murder. This is the most serious thing for a society ," he declared.
Prençi also recalled the effect that the decryptions of SKY ECC and EncroChat brought to Albania, where, according to him, strong links between crime and institutions came to light.
" Albanians were shocked when they saw from the SKY and EncroChat decryptions that police leaders and prosecutors were collaborating with criminal groups to hit other groups. Now imagine what happens if it turns out that even MPs or ministers are involved in criminal organizations. This would be a much bigger shock ," said Prençi.
However, he expressed skepticism that Durim Bami will find it easy to become a collaborator of justice.
" It is not easy for Durim Bami to become a collaborator. He is not a simple character and is not in the conditions that Dumani once was. But if SPAK manages to convince him to cooperate, then we can have very strong developments for politics and crime in Albania ," Prençi declared on the "Të Pashoj" podcast.
