Security expert and former head of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, stated on the podcast "Të Pashoq" that SPAK is expected to strike high-ranking state officials very soon, while warning that the investigation includes several "hot files" related to the highest levels of government.
Prenç's comments come at a time when the perception has been created for months that SPAK has entered a phase of calm after Altin Dumani's departure from management and the arrival of Klodian Braho.
According to the former Police Chief, this period will not last long.
" I am convinced and I also have information that several hot files, involving high-ranking state officials, both at the first, second and third levels, I believe will be executed very soon. Even within the framework of the obligations that the European Union has imposed on Albania regarding the progress of closing chapters ," declared Prençi.
Asked if this means the return of the "big fish season", Prençi replied emphatically: "Yes."
He said that many of the conditions imposed by the European Union are directly related to concrete issues of corruption and abuse at high levels.
" If you read the conditions of the European Union carefully, you understand very clearly what it is about. No specific names are mentioned, it does not say Shemsiu or Ediona or anyone else, but if you read it carefully you understand that this point talks about the axis, this about the Balluku issue and so on. So, the names are not there, but the issues are very clear ," he said.
Prençi warned that the coming months will be a test not only for SPAK, but also for the State Police.
" I am convinced that there will be very quick strikes. This is now another test for the State Police and Albanian law enforcement institutions ," he declared on the "Të Pashoj" podcast.
