Another fire was recorded this Saturday in the Lezha region. The flames have engulfed an area of bushes and vegetation in the village of Pllanë.
After receiving the notification, the Fire Service forces arrived at the scene, working to isolate and extinguish the flames, in order to prevent the fire from spreading towards the residential area.
The operation is still ongoing on the ground, while authorities are expected to provide more information once the situation is under control. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
This is the second fire that has engulfed Lezha in a few hours. Since Friday evening, a large fire has engulfed Mount Shengjin, near the "Sakë" neighborhood. According to the Ministry of Defense, firefighting vehicles from Lezha, Shkodra, Vau i Dejës and Mirdita worked non-stop throughout the night, as well as with the support of the Armed Forces, the Forest Service and Civil Emergency structures.
Authorities have announced that the fire on Mount Shengjin is suspected to have been intentional and that the suspected perpetrator has been identified and brought to justice. Helicopter air intervention during the morning hours helped bring the flames under control, while the fire continues to be monitored until it is completely extinguished.
