The General Director of the State Police, Chief Madhor Skënder Hita, presented the family of the Martyr of the Homeland with the medal of gratitude, awarded to Inspector Enea Mekolli, after his sublime act in the line of duty.
On the occasion of the birthday of the son of the Martyr of the Homeland, Enea Mekolli, the General Director of the State Police, Major General Skënder Hita, accompanied by senior State Police leaders, paid a visit to the Mekolli family.
"I know that no words and no support can replace Enea. I cannot give you back our Enea, but I want to assure you that you will never be alone. I, the State Police, every police officer, the Ministry of Interior and the Albanian Government will always be by your side, to support you in every need and at every moment.
Eneas' son turned one. It's a birthday filled with pain for the absence of his father, but also with pride for the legacy he left him.
"The son of our Martyr already has the status of "Child in the care of the Republic" and until the completion of higher education, he will benefit from Enea's full salary, free education and health care, as well as all other rights provided by law. We wish this angel a long life, health and prosperity. We wish him to grow up with the pride that his father gave his life in service to the homeland and the citizens," said Hita.

The General Director handed over to the family the documentation recognizing the Martyr's son with the status of "Child in the Care of the Republic", the medal of gratitude awarded to Inspector Enea Mekolli for the sublime act in the line of duty, as well as the symbolic check worth 7 million new lek (the amount transferred to the bank account), a contribution of State Police employees as a sign of solidarity for the Martyr's family.
"This is a contribution collected with all our hearts by State Police employees, as a sign of respect, gratitude and solidarity for the sublime sacrifice of Enea, as well as support for the family of the Martyr of the Homeland.
We have a moral and institutional obligation to care for his family, and we will fulfill this obligation with responsibility and dedication.
"You lost your son, we lost a colleague, a friend and an exemplary police officer. But the name and sacrifice of Enea will never be forgotten. We will stand by you, while his memory will live forever in our hearts, in the history of the State Police and in the honor of all Albanians," Hita added.
The Martyr's family, amidst pain and pride, thanked Hita for her continued support since the day Enea fell as a Martyr in the line of duty.
They also expressed their gratitude to all State Police employees for their solidarity and contribution in support of their family.
