The acting Prime Minister links the Declaration of Independence of 1776 to the right of peoples to self-determination and recalls American support in the process of Kosovo's statehood...
The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has congratulated the United States of America on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the declaration of independence, noting the historical importance of July 4, 1776 and the values on which the American state was founded.
In a message published on social networks, Kurti emphasized that the Declaration of Independence represents the principles of equality, freedom and inalienable human rights, which, according to him, have also served as inspiration for the efforts of the people of Kosovo for self-determination.
He recalled that the United States played a decisive role in supporting Kosovo's independence. In this context, Kurti highlighted the statement of former US President George W. Bush, made in Tirana on June 10, 2007, when he spoke in favor of Kosovo's independence.
According to Kurti, Albanians have received decisive support from the US twice in nearly a century. He referred first to support for the preservation of the Albanian state and then to support for the process that led to the declaration of independence of Kosovo.
Kurti described this support as part of the connection of the values of self-determination with the principles on which the United States was built, considering this relationship as an important element of the modern history of Albanians.
